Fun Day in Downtown

Sunday December 28, I spent the day with my good friend in Vancouver downtown. The weather was sunny but chilly ~~~ especially at night. Let's see what we found in downtown ...

I know what you are thinking of ... Victoria's Secret? Yes it is even without V and part of I in the photo. Anything else?

Can you see it closely? Pay attention and look closely ...

The location of this Victoria's Secret is considered a heritage building by the City of Vancouver. It was a Vancouver public library central branch from 1957 until 1995. Cool! I didn't know it was a library in the early 90's.

When I first came to Canada in 1990, there were four big department stores: The Bay, Eaton's, Sears and Woodward's. Woodward's was closed in 1993, Eaton's was closed in 1999 and now Sears in Richmond Center will be closed after February 2015 L

Maybe it's a good way to tell who is old immigrant 老華僑 and new immigrant 新華僑. Do you know about Woodward's? How about Eaton's? Anybody knows at least one of them is old immigrant 老華僑 like me! Haha ...

Do you miss Woodward's ... let's go to Canada Place to see the historic Woodward's windows. This is a Vancouver Christmas tradition, handcrafted in the 1960's and originally displayed in the popular Woodward's department store, the windows feature classic holiday scenes with animated characters and elaborate decor!

Are you satisfied with the pictures? Not really, okay ... let's see more

"Santa Baby, I want a yacht and really that's not a lot" oops, should have recorded more. IT IS NOT ENOUGH! Okay, no worries ... here's another one

You know what? While we were looking at Woodward's Windows, the red-nosed reindeers were watching in Rudolph's theater.

Next we visited Bright Nights in Stanley Park to support the BC Professional Fire Fighters' Burn Fund. I think this Christmas fundraising event in Stanley Park has been run for more than 10 years to help burn survivors and their families.

The decorations are great! But the best part in the park is the Bright Nights Christmas Train!!!   HOHOHO ...

$11 for an adult is a bit pricy but the lineup for the train ride was very long and I heard tickets have been sold out already! Those boarded on the train would go through this mysterious trail ...

Welcome 2015! Happy New Year!!!
